With the Spring Comes New Foals

It has been a couple of years in the making and now that spring has arrived, we are much closer to opening up for business. The blog has had a slight re-design, the shop's about page is spruced up, and I am hard at work making the tack and care supplies that will be needed for these new horses. Last year's herd of young-lings are yearlings now and we are excited to find them good owners. Within the next couple of months, I will begin posting listings for foals (ready to ship foals as well as a listing for the custom foals) and other items.

A lot of time and work is put into each item and everything is designed and hand crafted by me. These plush horses will provide a special and unique experience for imaginative kids and adults alike.

Get ready, because the foals are coming.

Welcome to the Ridgewater Thoroughbred Farm

My name is Breanna and I am the owner and operator of this Thoroughbred farm. Most everything you will see for sale here is hand made by myself so the process of purchasing your new foal may take longer than purchasing any other machine made stuffed horse on any other site, but the wait is definitely worth the excitement your child will show when they find that they get their very own race horse (minus the mess). We would like to bring that joy to your son or daughter by sending a Thoroughbred into your heart and home.

When I was young, I spent a lot of time pretending that I owned my own Thoroughbred farm where I bred and trained race horses. I had so much fun making tack, blankets, and stables by hand for my stuffed horses, that I decided I might use my creative talents to make some other children happy.

Ridgewater Farms was the name of my thoroughbred breeding operation, therefore I deemed it a good title for this project. The idea is that you are coming here not just to buy a stuffed animal horse, but to get a finely raised and trained thoroughbred plush horse for your son or daughter. Here you and your child can find all kinds of hand made tack, blankets, and other accessories to accompany the new foals into your home. Complete with pedigree charts that stretch back three generations, each colt or filly comes to your child race ready.

Part of the fun of this project is that it is not like any other stuffed animal store. Here, you shop as though you were buying a real live race horse. You can either choose from the available foals that are posted for sale, or you can special order a foal by choosing a Sire (the father) and a Dam (the mother). With this race horse alchemy of sorts, you will have no idea what color the horse will be, what markings it will have, and what gender it will be. Just like in the real racing world, you cannot pick and choose colors, genders, and markings to make the perfect horse. You take what you are given. Only here, at Ridgewater Farms, you don't have to pay thousands of dollars for your horseflesh and these horses, thankfully, do not require food or water (though they may require veterinary care at times and they always need plenty of love and attention).

We also provide other breeds of horses from time to time as we like to give kids the chance to rescue  mustang plushies that otherwise would have been purchased by slaughter houses. We also offer abused or abandoned horse plushies so they can be placed in a forever home. We sometimes "breed" these rescued horses to provide the Thoroughbreds with stable companions and training buddies. Sometimes we may sell a certain foal along with their stable companion. We always give a discount in these situations (you would pay less than if you bought both of them separately) so that we don't have to separate them.

Along with rescue horses, we also have a lot of rescue cats, dogs, and sometimes other random animals that hang about the barn. Some of those animal plushies are permanent residents here at the farm, but those that are available for adoption through us can be found in the kennel. Some horses do better with smaller companions like cats, dogs, or even goats.

So, now that you have read all the information above and hopefully you have some understanding of how this project works, lets get moving.

Welcome to Ridgewater Farms, how can I serve you today?
